What makes a purchase eligible#

A listing starts from the signed-in customer’s own Online Store purchase. The item must satisfy the app’s payment, fulfilment and delivery checks. Cancelled or refunded units, gift cards and digital items cannot become listings. The same unit cannot have two concurrent listings.

A prior Pre-Loved purchase can be listed again if it satisfies the current rules. Eligibility exclusions are checked against the original retail product.

Add an exclusion rule#

Open Encored → Eligibility as a Program Owner or Resale Manager. Add a rule, give it a useful name and choose its conditions. Active rules exclude matching products.

Combine conditions and groups#

Use AND when every condition must match; use OR when any matching condition is enough. You can also combine condition groups with AND or OR. A product matching any active exclusion rule is excluded.

For example, exclude products whose tag is final-sale OR whose product type is Underwear. Title matching ignores case; tags and product types match the whole value. A title “contains” check looks for the literal text.

Understand when rules are checked#

Encored reads current Shopify product data when a listing starts, resumes, submits or publishes. If the source data cannot be verified, the listing cannot progress. Sellers see an eligibility message; staff can see the matching exclusion rule.

Changing an exclusion does not automatically unpublish existing live listings or cancel completed sales. Review live inventory separately when your policy changes.

Keep the returns period separate#

The returns window delays resale after the original purchase. It is configured in Settings, rather than as a product exclusion rule.
